The storage environment of components is one of the important factors affecting their service life

The storage environment of components is one of the important factors affecting their service life, and humidity is a very important factor. Humidity requirements for component storage are often determined by their material and construction. Specifically, different types of components require different humidity ranges for storage.

1. Chip components

The storage humidity requirements for chip components are relatively strict, usually in a relative humidity environment of less than 30%. This is because there are highly hygroscopic packaging materials in chip components, and if stored in a high humidity environment, the packaging materials will absorb moisture, resulting in changes in their electrical characteristics, which will affect the performance and service life of the device.

2. Inductive components

The storage humidity requirements of inductive components are relatively low, generally in a relative humidity environment of 30%-50%. This is because the materials such as iron cores and coils contained in the inductor are prone to rust in a high humidity environment, which affects the conductivity and reduces the performance and service life of the device.

3. Electrolytic capacitor components

The storage humidity requirements of electrolytic capacitor components are relatively high, generally in a relative humidity environment of 50%-70%. This is because a certain amount of humidity needs to be maintained inside the electrolytic capacitor to ensure its normal operation and service life.
